If you’re joining us for the first time or if you’re visiting, we hope you have a great time worshiping with us and being part of the Emmanuel family. Here’s some info that might be useful.

Emmanuel is a church that strives to live out its vision of being Real People with Relevant Faith for Our Community. We believe this is achieved through growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ, worshipping God together, being God's hands and feet in the local community, and sharing our faith with people in our lives.

We have a range of great ministries and community connections. All including Children are welcome in worship and we encourage their participation and service.

During the week we have a range of additional programs and activities for children, youth, and families including; Boys’ Brigade, Girls’ Brigade, Playgroup, and Youth Discipleship.

We also have a range of adult Explore Groups that meet to study the bible in smaller groups, and a range of adult interest groups including Tennis, Indoor Bowls, Craft, Working Bees, and Fellowship groups you can find more about these here.

On Sundays we hold two Worship Services:

Our 8am Sunday service is a traditional style of worship which is quieter and more structured and includes the great hymns of our tradition.

Our 9.30am Sunday service is more contemporary and caters for families of all types. We use modern songs from a wide range of sources, have an informal style of worship, and have a high degree of participation in the leadership of the services. Sunday School is run for children aged 3 and up within this service during school terms. We also provide Sermon follow up and Dig in at Home materials to help resource and equip households to engage in faith practices at home and everyday life.

During both services, Communion is shared on the first Sunday of each month and the preaching is biblically based and relevant to people’s lives.

Whatever your style of worship, we can assure you that you will be very welcome here at Emmanuel. Our auditorium has Guest wi-fi, a retreat room for those who need it, and a hearing aid loop on the Laurel St side.

Staying connected with what’s happening is easy via our Website, Church App, and Facebook or by contacting one of the Ministry Team listed below.

Community Helping Hand

Community Helping Hand is one way we can connect with our local Community by offering Help, using our Hands and Hearts. It seems incredible that in our community there are some people who don’t have homes but sleep in our parks, and that there are people who have to come here for food. What we offer is not fancy gourmet food, but basic things: baked beans, rice, noodles, milk, tea bags, toothpaste, etc. As well as offering bags of food, may we care for these people with our prayers, and be mindful of these people on the sidelines of our community.

We offer the food hamper service as an Emergency Relief Basis and the hours of service are as follows.

Monday and Thursday 9.00m - 12 noon (only)

generosity

Small groups and individuals are invited to participate in the discovering a more generous life-style this February by practicing the way of generosity.

https://www.practicingtheway.org/generosity

The easiest way for you and your group to access the materials is to sign-up for the generosity practice.

Each week there is a teaching video which you will watch as part of your time together. For those who want to do this offline you can download the teaching notes and read it (or read in advance) in lieu of the video. There is also a personal practice which you can do between sessions - with the opportunity for sharing on how you went the following week.

This is best done in community with a small group. The weekly practice is more then just a bible study - it's a time of sharing, learning, prayer and reflection; most of all it provides a way of being encouraged as you practice the way of Jesus by cultivating a more generous life-style and doing this together is the way of Jesus’ followers.

Small group leaders - You can identify Emmanuel Uniting Church as your church and identify yourself as a small group leader and create ‘your own’ weekly meeting for gathering your small group to participate in the weekly practice. You can even invite members of your group (by email) to join in your group meeting; how easy is that! Or for those small groups that want an ‘offline’ option… you can download the links for the teaching session each week (suggest pre-read before your small group) and personal practice (for after your small group) in the table below.

Links for the four weeks (sessions 1-4) and the ‘bonus’ session (5) are below

Session2 video 2 teaching notes 2 practice 2

Session3 video 3 teaching notes 3 practice 3

Session4 video 4 teaching notes 4 practice 4

Session5 video 5 teaching notes 5 practice 5

Our weekly sermons at Emmanuel will loosely follow sessions 1 - 4 of practicing the way, starting Feb 02.

This February let’s practice the way of generosity as part of our ongoing discipleship journey at Emmanuel.
