If you’re joining us for the first time or if you’re visiting, we hope you have a great time worshiping with us and being part of the Emmanuel family. Here’s some info that might be useful.
Emmanuel is a church that strives to live out its vision of being Real People with Relevant Faith for Our Community. We believe this is achieved through growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ, worshipping God together, being God's hands and feet in the local community, and sharing our faith with people in our lives.
We have a range of great ministries and community connections. All including Children are welcome in worship and we encourage their participation and service.
During the week we have a range of additional programs and activities for children, youth, and families including; Boys’ Brigade, Girls’ Brigade, Playgroup, and Youth Discipleship.
We also have a range of adult Explore Groups that meet to study the bible in smaller groups, and a range of adult interest groups including Tennis, Indoor Bowls, Craft, Working Bees, and Fellowship groups you can find more about these here.
On Sundays we hold two Worship Services:
Our 8am Sunday service is a traditional style of worship which is quieter and more structured and includes the great hymns of our tradition.
Our 9.30am Sunday service is more contemporary and caters for families of all types. We use modern songs from a wide range of sources, have an informal style of worship, and have a high degree of participation in the leadership of the services. Sunday School is run for children aged 3 and up within this service during school terms. We also provide Sermon follow up and Dig in at Home materials to help resource and equip households to engage in faith practices at home and everyday life.
During both services, Communion is shared on the first Sunday of each month and the preaching is biblically based and relevant to people’s lives.
Whatever your style of worship, we can assure you that you will be very welcome here at Emmanuel. Our auditorium has Guest wi-fi, a retreat room for those who need it, and a hearing aid loop on the Laurel St side.
Staying connected with what’s happening is easy via our Website, Church App, and Facebook or by contacting one of the Ministry Team listed below.

In term 4 we will be exploring the Acts of Jesus by the Spirit, through the first 9 chapters of Acts.
Our small groups will look through the text, Acts 1-9, during the week PRECEDING our Sunday service. So when we gather on Sunday to hear God’s word proclaimed, we will have already engaged with the Scripture and thought through some of the key points / implications.
The content should provide for around 30 minutes of reading / engagement / discussion; but obviously this can grow / be tailored as your group needs. Allow time each week for gathering, sharing – building community – as well as praying over the week that was and for opportunities for the week ahead.
We will be following the material provided by the Bible Project. It is crowdfunded endeavour. Anyone who wishes to support the bible project – and I encourage you to do so – can give online as they are able. Each week there are resources picked from their website – articles, bible readings, videos and questions which you’re encouraged to engage in (you might like to do this in your own time) – you may even like to listen to the podcast series on the book of Acts as you commute to and from work (or potter in the garden).
Our reason for wanting to utilise these resources in the life of our communities is simple
1) to help people grow in their knowledge of Scripture and apply them in life
2) to illustrate what a great resource this is and encourage people to not only utilise it, but support it.

Community Helping Hand is one way we can connect with our local Community by offering Help, using our Hands and Hearts. It seems incredible that in our community there are some people who don’t have homes but sleep in our parks, and that there are people who have to come here for food. What we offer is not fancy gourmet food, but basic things: baked beans, rice, noodles, milk, tea bags, toothpaste, etc. As well as offering bags of food, may we care for these people with our prayers, and be mindful of these people on the sidelines of our community.
We offer the food hamper service as an Emergency Relief Basis and the hours of service are as follows.
Monday and Thursday 9.00m - 12 noon (only)
