John Baptises Jesus

Who’s the weirdest member of your family? In your opinion, what makes them that way? Is it good bad or neutral – why?

What do we know about John’s background from the bible? What has historical research added to this knowledge, i.e., why do we think he was dressed the way he was and spoke in the style he did?

Why do you think he was so harsh in his criticism of the Pharisees and Sadducees?

What do you make of the difference between John’s baptism of repentance and Jesus’ baptism with the Holy Spirit and fire? When do they each happen?

How does John’s baptism of Jesus “fulfil all righteousness”? What does that mean for us?
