Jesus speaks with the Religious Teachers

What’s your favourite family memory? Why? Who was involved? What did they do? What did you do? What feelings does it evoke?

How did you “stretch the boundaries” with your parents? What did you learn/how did you grow? How did they change as a result, do you think?

Refer to Exodus 20:12 (NIV) 12 “Honour your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. When is it right to honour your parents? When is it wrong? How do you think Jesus scored?

In what ways do you think Jesus’ childhood was like our own? In what ways did it differ? Reflecting on the similarities and differences, how does that help us relate to Jesus?

What do you think Luke is trying to communicate about Jesus in this passage?
