Acts 2:1-4 – The Holy Spirit comes at Pentecost

After His resurrection, Jesus stayed on Earth for 40 days and had told the disciples to go to Jerusalem to wait for the Holy Spirit.  While they waited they prayed. On the day of Pentecost they were all together in one room.

·        If you had been in that room, what do you think it would have sounded and felt like?

Verse 4 says that they were filled with the Holy Spirit and able to talk in tongues.

·        Do you feel like you have ever been filled by God to do something that you otherwise didn’t think that you were able to do?

God kept His promise and He sent the gift of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. Since that time so many years ago, every person who has believed in the Lord Jesus has received the gift of the Holy Spirit in the hearts. We don’t see the flames of fire resting on our heads or hear loud wind noises but we do receive the power of the Holy Spirit to enable us to live our lives to be God’s hands and feet in this world.

·        What will you do this week to be better prepared to be God’s hands and feet?

Father, you know our hearts and you want us all to be saved. If we have not yet been saved, speak to our hearts and help us know what to do. If we have already been saved, help us to allow the Holy Spirit to give us the power to do the things we need to know will please you. Let us see your power in our lives this week as we trust you each day.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Take turns to say this blessing based on Ephesians 1:13 to each other. Make the sign of the cross on their head or hand as you say the last line.

Christ brought you the truth, the good news about how you can be saved.

When you put your faith in Him, you belong to God and receive the Holy Spirit.

You are set free and will receive His Blessings
